One week ago, Friday morning, I saw what at first looked to be a dark spot that turned out to be a tick. It came off easily so I washed it down the drain. Saturday no bump so I thought good, got 'em early enough. Then Sunday a welt started to form and by Tuesday, significantly larger. Friday afternoon, eating lunch I noticed a small white spot in the middle of the welt, some sensitivity moving little finger, and instantly thought of a "bullseye welt."

Note that I didn't try to adjust for a uniform scale so the right side image may appear worse but I do feel the discomfort in joint motion more than before.

My regular family physician office was closed to I went to a local 'Urgent Care" office and after making sure I wasn't 'Muchausen' myself:

If a tick born infection, I should see some relief as early a Monday and certainly by mid-week. If not, I can visit my family physician.

Consider this a public service announcement to check yourself (and pets) for ticks. Get the little buggers early and take appropriate precautions.

According to RFK Jr. ticks are our friends and we should let them bite us as much as they want.

Came off easily means it had bitten? Maybe some parts were left in.
I use a monthly pill on my dog, not a tick or flea on him the three + years I have had him. Plus the heartworm chew, about $30-40 per month.

both mrs b and i have had the experience. i was put on the doxy 'just in case', never had any symptoms.
she wasn't so lucky. doc sent her blood out to a lab, came back positive, got filed before the doc ever saw it.
she was in bed with rapid heartbeat and 104 temp. back to the doc, pa comes in and says she doesn't look too bad.
we asked for the doc and after a short argument, he came in and said lyme disease. she suffered a lot for what should have been an easy solution.
that was 17 years ago. now we don't take any chances, and neither do the docs.

We've had dogs as kids & they'd ge ticks ... & sister too - both had ticks - early 60s. Back then no one thought of lyme disease. So dad, a smoker at the time would take his cigarette and heat up the butt end of the tick & it would back out not leave the head imbeded. Pretty high tech LOL
