I noticed that every time you do your maintenance the book mentions tightening the bolts on the body. I tried a new dealer for service and they did not list this on the bill . I'm going back to the first dealer who did this without charge. FishHawk
A good point. But I wonder if it really needs to be done? I know that with some of the older British and American cars this was a good idea but I haven't heard of any problems in recent years. Has anyone ever found loose ones, if so which ones. I wonder which ones they would check, they couldn't get to them all could they? I bet almost no one ever really does this.
At around 30,000 miles I gave various suspension and frame bolts a bit of arm, and nothing moved. Not too worried. Body and various engine and bracket bolts -- well, if I have to remove them for something they get the threads anti-seized so it's a lot easier next time. Body bolts tend to start rusting out pretty fast around here... . _H*
Like Hobbit, my search for loose bolts underneath has not yet revealed any. Because of (too) much driving on upaved roads, I thought there might be. But sooner or later, somebody is going to save themselves the price of a new CV joint by finding a torn rubber boot in time. A primary basis for my enduring interest in the Prius' underside.
