In April 2011, bad weather was approaching and I continued working knowing my tank was only half-filled. When the power went out, I thought it was local but instead tornadoes had ripped up the TVA transmission lines and we had over four days of power outage. I regretted not having filled up our 1kW inverter equipped Prius before the power outage. Now both Prius have 1kW inverters and I've some empty, spare cans to top off. The reason: Source: United States (USA) Weather Forecast from Weather Underground | Weather Underground The irony is the refrigerator that never really recovered from the outage is by the curb, doors off. Sunday, I ordered a replacement that is much more efficient yet smaller external dimensions. Bob Wilson
One thing I found with our newer fridge, it's a total pain the the @ss to get at the cooling fins, it's a spiral, buried inside and at the bottom. To properly de-dust it you have to remove a fan mounted on it. And of course to even get at the area you have to take a paper backing off the fridge. It gets easier, and really not hard at all, but the average homeowner I would guess never does this, has cooling fins like a small furry animal.
It's even worse when you 10+ mix of cats and dogs. It may not solve the coil cleaning issue, but I book marked this awhile ago, and this seems like a good place to share it. Chest fridge
South of the border, our small furry animals are really not that big on cooling fins. The Stegosaurus was excellent in this department, but they don't make them any more...
The Stegosaurus may have been trying to capture heat. As to small furry critters, the concern is in trying not to lose heat. Hence the fur. This until you get areas that are hot, like deserts, then they start sprouting giant radar ears. Dust bunnies, on the other hand, don't have concerns on heat or cold. Frig fins, and fan screens, just insult there sense of aesthetics, and they are trying to hide them from view.
