Timing Tensioner Bolt Replacements

    Good Evening.
    I’m finishing up the head gasket replacement on my wife’s Prius, and everything has been going great! No snapped head bolts

    however, upon installing the timing chain tensioner again, I set my torque wrench to the wrong setting and snapped one of the bolts(I also honestly need to invest in a higher quality torque wrench). The other is still on, but I’m unsure of how tight. Thankfully the snapped one should be easy to extract because it’s still sticking out of the timing cover a bit (if I were to remove the tensioner I could get to it with pliers)

    obviously this will cause an oil leak, but I’m hoping for no timing issues.

    Does anyone know where I can find replacement bolts?
    Everything else has been perfect, just cleaning the EGR and, MAF, and intake manifold next and mounting it all with hoses and the wiring harness.

    I miss-spoke, I snapped one of the studs, that hold the tensioner onto the timing cover.

    Toyota dealer for a stud just like the original, hardware store for one maybe close enough.

    Buy one from the dealership, it’s inexpensive and not worth trying to find one at a hardware store. It also won’t mess up your timing as it keeps the timing chain in tension.

    Have you had any success finding or knowing the part number? All I can find is this one, that claims it would fit my model year but doesn’t specifically say it would fit the tensioner. https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/stud-hex-lobular-9008012001

    I     also found this one, which looks correct and similar on the diagram, but is says it only fits vehicles up to 2002.

    I’m struggling to find anything else labeled a tensioner stud for the 1.8l engine.

    Spec for the timing chain tensioner hold-down nuts is 9 ft/lb. A 3/8” or 1/4” drive torque wrench is suitable for that range.

    Tensioner install document doesn’t show the stud torque, maybe same as the EGR studs: 7 ft/lb (84 in/lb).

    I probably have it laying on the floor I have to go look at the diagram see which and look on floor under 1.8 trash but should be herr

    Yeah that's the page id for the stud: mouse-over it and it'll highlight the part link. Part no for the stud is: 92132-80616

    (I've found it most expedient to (where possible) find the parts on Amayama, then plug in the part no on the "new-and-improved" toyota usa parts site)

    @Mendel Leisk can help you with that. I usually just call in to the dealership or go in person to buy the parts, I stop trying to do it myself since it takes up too much of my time :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
