Has anyone tinted their 2010 Prius windows? Did you do all the windows? Any pictures? What is the legal amount of tint for your windows?
many of us have tinted our windows. many threads about it in the gen III forums as well. in california, law says (essentially) no tint on the front side/windshield. thats not to say no UV protection. I had AirBlue applied to all 11 windows in the car.
The amount of tint that is legal probably varies by state, and certainly can be enforced (or ignored) differently by state or even area. I have not found any UV/IR film that is sufficiently "clear" in the visible light range to actually be legal in CA. However that does not stop many people from tinting, sometimes so heavily that night time visibility is severely limited, perhaps even unsafe. I would like maximum UV and strong IR reflection, but as clear as possible in the visible. Please let me (us) know the film maker's name and the exact film product number, and where one can see its specs and get or order it. THANKS.
Does anyone have any idea what UV protection is offered by the windows themselves? The glass, except for the windshield, has UV symbols indicating some level of protection. I remember a chart someone posted indicating it was quite high but I did a couple of searches and can't find it now.
Rhode Island Window Tint Law - TintCenter.com All the windows except the windshield can be tinted, but must allow 70% of light in. You can tint the very top of the windshield. 70% will be a VERY mild tint.
Here is the information from Toyota TIS. Hope this helps. Thanks Rcsting, I didn't even think to look there when I had access. With that much UV reduction is any more really needed?
