I know there was a thread about tinting but I can't find it so this one will have to do. I am getting windows tinted on Weds. next week. Those of you who have done so or have had this done before...what level/number do you go for. 20 seems really dark, 35 to light...if that makes any sense. And do you get all the windows the same so it looks uniformed? I told them about the back curve window and they did not think that would be a problem.
Probably the shop hasn't done a Prime yet. According to some of the comments I remember reading the shops said the back window was a challenge and they said they would probably charge extra if another Prime came in. The shop i went to gave the window a second look when I came in. But he said it wasn't a problem at all when he was done, so don't worry about the dual wave. I went with really dark ceramic on the rear windows on mine. It looks great from the outside but darker than I like from the inside. If I had more money I would have gotten the crystalline tint( it's not as dark, but keeps the car cooler than ceramic apparently).
The Prius windows come pre tinted. Not the 35% level of after market tint but the windows are tinted. Good luck with your tint job.
They're pre-tinted? I didn't notice it in my test drive. Is it on all windows? Since I've been pondering the same question as Huskers, I've been taking notice of tinting on vehicles. I've decided that I don't mind differential shading on front and back, and wouldn't want the darker tint on the front - even if it were legal. Still would like a tinted visor at the top of the windshield, though.
My Gen 2 was letting 78% of light through, so I used 50% to get to my states limit. The lower rear window was So tinted we did not add more
I tinted my entire Prime (to include the windshield) in M3 crystalline film. Expensive, but well worth the solar energy rejection. 50s, on windows and the rear hatch (no issues with the double bubble) and 70 on the windshield. There is zero noticeable light reduction from the windshield, but you barely feel the heat on your face in full sun. The windows are not as dark as I'd like them to be, but I wanted to stay state legal. iPhone ?
Looks great. Makes such a difference in looks. I got mine done yesterday. 35% all around except windshield. Tinting will help keep the cabin cool, cuts reflection, UV protection is a big benefit, and it looks sharp. Now I just have to remember not to roll down a window for 4 or 5 days. I also got the undercoating done to the car. Winter salt and grim takes a toll on cars around here. They said it would lso help with road noise and it really does.
Where did you have done undercoating I'm looking for this ....and what type of undercoating did you use Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Had it done at the dealership. They did the tinting as well. Called Rustguard and Soundguard. Tinting was 3m FX Premium.
Quick question is this custom paint job on wheels or this is aftermarket.... Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I've just put an order in for 30% tint on doors and rear and clear-ish tint for the front windshield. Trying to reduce temp inside to keep my EV miles high by using less AC. Having a sexy car won't hurt either ;-)
