    Hi all,

I learned something today (unfortunately the hard way) about the tire warranty that comes with the OEM tires and thought this knowledge could help others. With only 3700 miles on my 2010 Prius, my left front tire hit something and the sidewall punctured. The tire warranty on the OEM Firestone Ecopia only covers defects to the tire - this was judged to not be a defect (to be honest, hardly any flat is likely to be judged a defect). However, here's the interesting part - you can go to any Firestone dealer and, as long as you have less than 5,000 miles on the tire, purchase road hazard protection on any or all tires for around $13 per tire. This protection covers full repair or replacement for any flat. So for around $50, you can cover all 4 tires. I know there is debate about whether the coverage is worth it, but I wanted to mention that it can be obtained if desired.
