I saw this banner front and center when I opened my MSN homepage this morning... The most popular hybrids on MSN Autos, based on visits to the site's vehicle pages. The Toyota Prius is not only the most popular hybrid on MSN Autos, but also the best-selling hybrid in the world. For those auto shoppers looking for a vehicle with an environmentally friendlier tire track, hybrid passenger cars currently lead the way. Toyota's best-selling hybrid vehicle—the Prius—takes the top spot followed by the Honda Civic Hybrid as the two most popular hybrid vehicles on MSN Autos during the second quarter of 2006. Introduced to the U.S. market in 2000, the Prius has become the best-selling hybrid in the U.S. and the world. Two sport-utility vehicles take the third and fourth spots, with the industry's first seven-passenger hybrid SUV, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, and the compact Ford Escape Hybrid, respectively. Coming in seventh and eighth are hybrids of two best-selling models, the Honda Accord Hybrid and the Toyota Camry Hybrid. The Accord Hybrid is Honda's third hybrid model and the Camry Hybrid was introduced as a 2007 model for the current year. The Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid rounds out the top ten; it is the first full-size pickup truck with hybrid propulsion technology for improved fuel economy. The list of the top ten hybrid vehicles on MSN Autos is based on total visits to the site's vehicle research pages during the second quarter, April through June, of 2006. Here is the complete list.
