I have been a user of the PID sets for the Torque app since I bought my first Prius in 2012 - a Prius C. I have now moved to a Gen 1 PiP, and have found that, while nearly all the Gen 1 Prius and Plugin PIDs are identical to those for the "C", and provide data, one in particular does nothing, so I am looking for a solution. The PID in question is the HV System Indicator (H S I), which I find invaluable for pulse_n'_ glide, as it is much easier to glance at a screen-mounted dial, than to peer down at the dash display while driving. Has anyone had any success with this PID, and give me a steer on how to get it working for the PiP? Thanks for any feedback ....
Are you using the custom PIDs found here? https://priuschat.com/threads/prius-phv-custom-pids-for-torque-android-app.104779/ Though saying that there doesn't seem to be a HSI PID like what you describe. It's not something I've looked for as I'm more interested in the data not available by normal means. I guess you don't have a HUD?
Yes, the custom PID sets, with the exception of the HSI added to the Prius C set, appear identical (haven't checked all PIDs). Certainly, my Torque setup for the C, including my calculated PIDs, transfers across directly without having to start over for the PiP. I do have a HUD, but it is emasculated - my PHEV is a Japanese domestic model imported into NZ, then fully refurbished for the local market by Toyota. The main casualty is that the centre console is replaced, so the HUD control has gone - I get speed projected only. i have had a liking for the HSI because being a percentage it is fine-grained.
Do you mean the entire centre console was changed, and not just the touch screen/head unit? The HUD controls are normally to the right of the centre console (on RHD cars), above the ignition switch and left of the timer/clock buttons. Pressing the "HUD" button twice (from off) should bring up the speedometer + HSI. I would be surprised if they removed these buttons.
That sounds crazy that they would remove those controls, unless the controls were different on the JDM models (maybe done through the touchscreen or something?).
