I'm new to the forum and hoping someone out there has an answer. My 2006 Prius' touchscreen has stopped working...Only way to get info is to use the on-steering-wheel controls. The Toyota dealer (Roseville, CA) said it needs to be replaced and it will cost $1800! That's like buying a new imac. Is there anyother way to get this repaired? Help! I've loved my Prius (which I got second hand last year) but if this is the repair costs attached I might as well trade in for a Ford hybrid. Any advice would be appreciated.

Used MFDs are often available on eBay for about $800 and installation takes about 45 minutes. Make certain that the one you consider is from a 2006-2008 Prius (The 2004-2005 MFD will not work) and had the same options that you had on your Prius.

Shouldn't happen on an '06, though; there may be something
else wrong. But hey, if the symptoms match...
