I'm new to the forum and hoping someone out there has an answer. My 2006 Prius' touchscreen has stopped working...Only way to get info is to use the on-steering-wheel controls. The Toyota dealer (Roseville, CA) said it needs to be replaced and it will cost $1800! That's like buying a new imac. Is there anyother way to get this repaired? Help! I've loved my Prius (which I got second hand last year) but if this is the repair costs attached I might as well trade in for a Ford hybrid. Any advice would be appreciated.
Used MFDs are often available on eBay for about $800 and installation takes about 45 minutes. Make certain that the one you consider is from a 2006-2008 Prius (The 2004-2005 MFD will not work) and had the same options that you had on your Prius. JeffD
Make sure to read this little bit of info on the repair of the MFD... http://www.techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/cars/mfd/
Shouldn't happen on an '06, though; there may be something else wrong. But hey, if the symptoms match... . _H*
