Cool! I had a 1969 Corolla a number of years ago. People here complain about poor acceleration. Try a 1200cc engine with a 2 speed automatic transmission!
The experience I had with my '71 Corolla wagon, purchased used for $500 in Vancouver, B.C., and then driven around the whole of North America, and for a couple of years after that, is what turned me into a die-hard Toyota fan.
Mine was in Toronto. Canada.Plenty of salt. I bought the car used as the second car I ever owned. My previous car had a 330 CI engine with a 4 barrel carb. When you pressed the accelerator, you watched the gas gauge drop. The Corolla became a freeway sandwich. When an officer passes the drive shaft through your rear window, the car is a goner.
i wish they still made them like they used to. it may not be all toyota'sa fault though. the quest for higher mpg's seems to have affected longevity and reliability.
I do not know about that. When the Corolla was idling, the corners of the front bumper vibrated up & down. Not as heavy duty as our current cars.
The Corolla I had was a '69 too - KE10B - but it had a 1077cc engine - and 4 spd Manual - it got along really well - less than 800kg with me on board.
