A heads-up to everyone who was thinking about getting the cargo net or already bought one: Toyota has put a "stop sale" on the 2010 cargo nets. No specific reason was given, but I'm guessing it has a good deal to do with the fact that the anchoring point for them stinks and it damages the car. Just a guess Anyway, I thought I would let everyone know so that you a) don't have one installed on your brand new car b) you don't buy one from some seller who hasn't pulled them from the sales shelf or c) you've had damage to your car because of your cargo net and you want an argument for Toyota to fix it.
Dealer sources are telling me the stop sale is officially due to "low stock" even though the inventory system is showing 900+ in stock across the country.
I was also just told by a dealer contact that anyone having problems with theirs (like Rick) should call the Toyota Customer Service line at 1.800.331.4331 because, in his words, the customer's voice carries 10 times more weight than a dealer's.
Oy! Long phone wait, and after giving them all of my information and then waiting on hold, all they said was to take it to a dealer for inspection. So, guess I'll take it to a dealer for inspection and hopefully they will be able to fix it. Thanks for the heads up Danny.
Brought it to the dealer, and the problem has been logged and sent to Toyota. The dealer will call me if/when they ever hear anything about a fix.
