A poor comparison. Rav4 2.0 diesel a manual 143hp... hybrid 2.5 is no competitor!! A relative of mine had to change a defective/worn clutch (40k miles) in his RAV, 1000eur..just in case someone finds manuals are some sort of "plus"...
Well this basically shows what we've known about the two sources of fuel and two types of powertrain. Highway? Take the diesel Intracity? Take the hybrid
Highway, but with long stretches to keep temperature/flow enough to regen the DPF. Every service else, hybrid petrol.
There were thousands of complaints about the clutch being worn on Chevy cobalts as early as 20,000 miles, based on how mine is wearing it will be worn somewhere after 200,000 miles. Many people don't know how to drive the grabbier new clutches and ride the hell out of them, launch as close to idle as you can and unless the plate grenades even a crappy clutch will make it over a 100k
By the way, also, for the USA, Bob Lutz (I know) quotes generic diesel version costing in the range +$8000 in USA over gaso with our EPA regs, so let's say +$3000 over a hybrid version. So I do not think this comparison works for USA. In EU with more gaso tax, and cheaper diesel options, OK.
