It seems as though Toyota has the greatest salesman since Billy Mays working for them these days. Only a few months after talking Aston Martin into building a model based on the tiny iQ, Toyota is at it again, this time convincing BMW to trade the Mini platform for the iQ platform. According to Britain's Autocar, Toyota is talking with BMW about trading one small-car platform for the other. Autocar speculates that BMW is looking for an even-smaller platform to build a new electric microcar on, one that could possibly revive the classic "Isetta" name. Toyota, meanwhile, gets access to BMW's impressive Mini platform and its oft-praised, go-kart-like handling. The sporty platform could be used to underpin a new compact car under the flagship Toyota brand or, more likely, the hip Scion brand, which specializes in small cars.
