Toyota Auris Gets a Fresh Face, New Engine Lineup for Geneva Too bad these are going to Europe rather than the U.S.
Hummm, the back end makes me think of the Datsun 210 wagon we once owned. Still, it is nice to see the body style for the 1.8L. Bob Wilson
No Also, according to the UK hybrid forums, the Auris and Yaris hybrids aren't getting the same mpg's as the larger Prius. It appears that they're not as aerodynamic and usually come with larger low profile alloy wheels. But they are selling like hot cakes and accound for about 1/4 of all Toyota sales.
I read somewhere that they may consider bringing the Auris over to the US under the Scion brand in an attempt to help lagging sales in that branch.
That's true, in 2014 Auris hybrid sales were 1,2 % of all car sales here in Finland. Yaris hybrid is popular too, hybrid is coming to main street.
North America's version of the auris was called the matrix and it died from lack of sales. Listed: Six cars that replace the Toyota Matrix - The Globe and Mail Scion is going to try and redo the body work and sell the beast as a future scion IM. The US prefers trunks and the corrola sedan with 4 doors sells well here. I don't see much point of an auris hybrid in the US, there is not much room between the aqua (prius c) and prius liftback. In europe this is different because of pricing, but likely imported uris hybrids would cost more than prii in north america and not do as well on the epa mpg test. Scion iM Concept Revealed, Headed for Production – News – Car and Driver Perhaps the toyota matrix will sell better as a scion im. If it does they probably will provide a hybrid model since all the work has already been done. Still in the US I'm not sure who would buy it over a gen IV prius liftback, which will be on sale before the IM.
