After buying my left over 2016 Prius 4 in November, I bought a set of American Racing wheel at Tire Rack in December and decided I would leave the stock wheels on it until spring. Now comes the part with dealing g with TPMS. I decided I would buy TPMS sensors that were programmable and install them in my new wheels. I found a company by the name of Autel that makes a programmable sensor and a tool that will not only program them but can read the codes from the car so I can program my new sensors. My sensors aren't here yet but I did use the new tool to copy the numbers from the TPMS sensors on the car. This video shows what I am doing.
No, I will have two sets of wheels and tires with matching codes . I will just switch them and shouldn't have to do anything else, a one time shot I hope. I didn't know I was in the Prime Forum but doesn't the Prime use the same TPMS sensors and wheels? I'll try not to let it happen again.
My Autel Mx TPMS sensors came today and I followed the video and have successfully cloned all four new sensors to the ID of the ones on the car. It will be a while before I buy my new tires for my new rims. When spring fever hits me that will be the motivation and coming up with over $400 bucks also. lol I am impressed by the way Autel's Maxi Pad and sensors worked. No buggy software.
