I just bought 4 new Denso TPMS monitors for my car. 3 have see thru rubberized backs and one has a black plastic back. Anyone know why?
Its just a manufacturing process...I see both designs and its probably the change in the production. As long as it transmits theres nothing to worry about. Thats my angle on that situation.
Did you buy new from a dealer or auto parts shop? As commented above, both clear cover and black cover exists, but if you bought used one from Ebay or new one from China, you can end up with bad sensors or counterfeit. I bought 4 new supposed to be OEM sensors on Ebay (from China), but they ended up having ID printed which was different from ID being transmitted. I did not use them, and just returned.
Yeah I was prepared to understand that what I bought from eBAY could be counterfeit copies of OEM Genuine Toyota TPMS parts. I installed only two of those I bought from eBAY and I had installed two earlier that were used from eBAY but they came packaged with new attachments and nicely packed. Also that seller had a almost 100% standing. When I got those used ones, I scanned them and they were live..at least for NOW LOL! Installed them and they worked as I would imagine they came off of of late model junked cars. So at this juncture I have 2 used and 2 OEM Toy TPMS sensors working. NOW...will those used ones the battery give out and/or the OEM ones which could be Chinese knockoffs..fail...yeah..we will see. ONLY time will tell....
