Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has released recalls that may affect some Kia, Nissan, General Motors and DaimlerChrysler vehicles. 2005-2006 Kia Spectra Vehicles affected: 9,943 On certain vehicles equipped with an advanced airbag feature, the Occupant Classification System (OCS) installed in the right front seat may misclassify a child restraint seat as an adult. This may occur if the child seat is installed after an adult has been seated and there has not been a key-on-key-off cycle with the seat empty prior to installation of the child restraint. Dealers will reprogram the OCS Electronic Control Unit. 2005 Nissan XTerra Vehicles affected: 615 Certain genuine accessory trailer hitches installed by Nissan dealers may have inadequate quality of some welded joints which may result in failure. Dealers will replace all suspect genuine Nissan hitches. 2006 Buick Rainer 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette 2006 Chevrolet Express 2005-2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT 2006 GMC Envoy 2006 GMC Envoy XL 2006 GMC Savana 2005-2006 GMC Sierra 2006 GMC Yukon 2006 Hummer H2 Vehicles affected: 6,488 Certain vehicles may have been built with a power steering hose that is not to specification. Under extreme steering manoeuvres, the hose may fracture and leak fluid. Dealers will inspect the hose(s) for two suspect date codes and will replace them if required. 2005 Chrysler 300 2005 Dodge Dakota 2005 Dodge Durango 2005 Dodge Magnum 2005 Jeep Liberty 2005 Jeep TJ On certain vehicles, the cup plug which retains the park pawl anchor shaft in the automatic transmission could be missing or not properly staked in its bore, potentially allowing the shaft to move out of position and preventing the transmission from being placed in the Park position. If this occurs and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle may roll away. Dealers will install a bracket to ensure that the park pawl anchor shaft is retained in the proper position. 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup Vehicles affected: 6 On certain Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 vehicles equipped with NP246 transfer case, the vehicle's Totally Integrated Power Module contains an incorrect calibration that could potentially result in inadvertent transfer case default to Neutral.
