I was looking in my new Warranty and maintenance guide. On page 7 it talks about tranportation assistance, if a warranty repair takes longer than one day, or they need to order parts and the care can't run without the parts? It says it's for 2010 models. What does this mean? Do they now provide free rentals?
Loaner shoes. Each dealer keeps a stock of old bowling shoes. Sorry. Actually, I don't know. I thought it was a dealer by dealer issue, so perhaps one of the Toyota people can shed some light on it. Tom
Thats what i thought, the only way to get a rental car is if a dealer payed for it. I didn't know this untill after i bought this car. Coming from gm i thought it was odd Toyota didn't stand behind theirs cars/trucks with rentals. But now that i read this it sounds just like gm plan for a rental car, it's says the same things but never says what they consider "Transportation assistance"?
When I got my car from Rick Hendrick Toyota in Fayetteville, one of the Toyota option packages contained providing of a rental car. My understanding from the dealer was that they will provide a rental car only if you purchase this particular package.
The script would go like this: service manager: "Do you need transportation assistance to go somewhere for lunch?" customer: "Why yes. Thank you." service manager: "Okay. Head out the door, turn left, walk about three miles and there is a Taco Bell on the left." Tom
So you think that what they mean by if your car needs over a day of service you can wait at the dealer for a day then get a ride somewhere.
My dealer (Pauly Toyota) maintains a fleet of 2010 Prius just as loaner cars for when you hae your worked on. I've never yet paid a penny for it, and never bought an extended warrantee. So I suppose it is up to your dealer's discretion.
The dealer here gives you a corolla, with 2 huge signs on the side and another (smaller sign) on the back that reads: "courtesy of XXX Toyota". I am still divided between being a rolling advertisement or out a car for the day. :juggle:
When I returned to Liberty Toyota in Burlington one evening with their defective battery they provided zero transportation assistance for a warranty problem. YMMV but IMO don't count on Toyota or the dealer to help much. They may drop you at home & pick you up when the car is done.
One of the local dealers here in LA provided me with a free rental car for the day, when they were doing some warrenty covered stuff. The enterprice people picked me up from the dealership and took me to their office and i picked up the car. in the evening i droped off the rental car at the dealership and picked up mine. The dealership had a agreement with enterprice , but Toyota was paying for the rental.
