A few days ago I drove to a dark site several miles out of town in the middle of nowhere to take images of the Star Cloud of Sagittarius with my 3†apochromatic refractor telescope and a CCD camera. Light pollution really degrades astronomical imaging, and so I occasionally haul my equipment far from city lights. I completed my imaging session at 3 AM, packed up my gear, and headed for home. In no time I was completely lost (this was my first trip to this site). I turned on my nav system, and spoke a single word, “home.†Instantly, the nav system took over, and its soothing voice led me to my driveway an hour later. The nav system means different things to different people, but that night, for me, it led me home from the stars. P.S. Here is a link to the image that I took (total exposure was about a half hour), http://seetheglory.com/cgi-bin/image.pl?FI...NAME=m24.05.jpg
