Anyone know what the purpose of the small triangular front windows is? Does not seem it is for visibility.
To let the light in! …at least the ones in my 2009 Gen II do exactly that! …and both of mine are quite visible if you know where to look (I think it is called the "A" pillar)
I think it's mostly style (the theme for the Gen 2 was "Triangular monoform"). If you look at the window frame from A pillar to C pillar and around the window sill, it forms a triangle. It can be useful if you're making a corner. I do remember a few times when we still had our Gen 2 that I'd use the small window to see the curb. Otherwise, I use it to put a parking pass (hides it from the normal windshield position but it can still barely get read by the scanner).
Exactly this. There is one (sharp) corner on entry to an access way I drive where the visibility it provides is invaluable.
