Ordered one of those cheap $7 42 piece LED kits where most of the bulbs don't fit anything in Prius v(but some do)... I found the rear cargo light really poorly done, switch physically flips the bulb to make contact; and existing bulb was basically uselessly dim.. Anyway, I think this simple mod is more stable (bulb doesn't move) and I could use a much longer bulb.. Their was an existing hole in the plastic opposite the ground connection, so also very easy, priusv-led2.jpg priusv-led1.jpg

Yeah if you look up that bulb in your manual and you have a number it's a festoon something another it's the same in my generation too I believe it's the same bulb there is an LED replacement I'll try and find you the number I have it in two of my generation twos I need to get some more of them but that system there is from those cheap LED kits that I used to buy when they first came out I don't know about 6 years ago all that wire business and stuff is gone We don't do that anymore

Good work. I did order one of those cheap kits from amazon and did most of the interior. It has the bulbs that fits the map, dome, and cargo area lights.

I got the warm white. These are only about 2.5x brighter than stock though. I also noticed how cheap the cargo area light design is. The switch flips the bulb back and forth??? haha
Yours looks like they are 36 led bulbs? That's going to be really bright. The location of the cargo light is kinda stupid though Being down so low as it is, more light that low may not solve your problem. You probably should look into installing a dome light. I just did it and its not too difficult.

Or pick up the kit that replaces the two existing rear hatch trim panel inserts with two LED panel inserts, which become overhead lighting when the hatch is open, which included a harness patch to power from the OEM side lamp, years ago on Rakuten, at the time, about $60 delivered.

These are retrofit things whatever you can fit that square nonsense in the housing that make smaller ones all different sizes they make nine LED things that will fit in various housings and lenses and what have you In the Prius or most of the Prius they have a little light in the rear quarter panel finish trim it literally just moves the bayonet bulb on an angle to get power and turn on It's very difficult to find a worthwhile LED that'll fit between those bayonet tabs the v must be similar there are myriads of surface lights similar to the one the police have right above their head they turn on to do their paperwork those can mount right over the square hole in the trunk panel or stick up with Velcro and wire right to the plug that your regular light goes in should that be necessary that'll make it so a blind person could see everything in your trunk tools little screwdrivers the whole nine.
