It's extremely hard to draw with a mouse, and nearly impossible with a trackball. So the lack of a drawing program never bothered me. But now that I have the trackpad I figured I should have a drawing/painting program. So I downloaded Tux Paint, a free, open source painting program available for Linux, OS X, and Windows, for children 6 to 12. I am learning that it's also nearly impossible to draw on a trackpad. At least for me.
