Did you know in Nixon (1995), Anthony Hopkins got the lead part, but it was first offered to Jack Nicholson? His performance as Hannibal Lecture definitely qualifies Hopkins as very able to play a psycho figure (not trying to be political - this was Nixon), Nicholson potentially could have delivered one of his best performances.
Jack Lord (1920 – 1998) was Roddenberry's first choice for the role of Captain James T. Kirk, Lloyd Bridges was also offered the Kirk role and turned it down too.
