I have a Prius 2004. It's too narrow to fit two car seats and a passenger in the back seat. I assume the same is true for the 2014 Prius v. Is that correct? It will be interesting to see what they offer in terms of width for the new model though. In the meantime, any other suggestions for wider hybrid vehicles? Not a major advantage in most instances I admit, but nonetheless I'd like to know what my options are, and not just limited to the Prius lines. I'm not interested in getting a full-on minivan though.
I've been regularly carrying a passenger and 2 car seats in the back. It's a tight fit but if you put the two seats together, it makes for easier entry and exit. If the two seats don't fit together, well, it's cheaper to buy thinner car seats than a new car. iPhone ?
Gen3 adds about 1/2-inch width over Gen2 if I recall...not sure about Prius v wagon. Then you got Camry, Avalon, Highlander, possibly Accord hybrid
The Camry Hybrid is 1.82 m wide. The Prius v is 177.5 cm wide. The 3rd gen Prius is 174.5 cm wide. The 2nd gen Prius is 172.5 cm wide. The Highlander Hybrid is 192.5 cm wide. Hmm.... So the current Prius v is over 2 inches wider than my 2004 Prius, so that sounds promising. The Highlander Hybrid is MUCH wider, but I'm not keen on getting something that big. The AWD is nice though. Yeah, the two seats would have to be together, since they'd be both rear-facing for now. Otherwise it'd be impossible for the passenger to get in. However, one of the car seats definitely would make this very hard. It's the Britax Advocate which has these extra plastic pads on each side that make it even fatter. Mind you, by the time I actually get a new car, one car seat might be front facing. Probably not be a good idea to have a front facing and a rear facing immediately adjacent to each other.
