I was going to fill up 30psi on all 4 tyres. I always do this on all cars I've ever had. I googled. It says 33 front and 35 back. Then on the inside of the front door, there is writing saying 36 front and 33 back. Erm... very confused. Thanks.
Don't be. The manufacturer spec for Prius generally is 35 / 33 psi front / rear. If your car has a manufacturer label that shows 36 / 33 for your model, then that is the spec for your car. I use 42 / 40 psi. 30 psi is way too low unless you want to wear out your tire tread shoulders much sooner than they otherwise might.
Double check that label? North American ones say 35/33, front/rear. Still, what's a pound or two? For my 3rd gen 17" the label says 33/32. I set all four to 36, leave it till they get down to around 33~34 to adjust again. I don't like to go too high. For one thing the 17's ride harsher, at any pressure, and more so when raised. Also, I suspect higher pressures are going to accelerate wheel bearing and suspension wear. I also go over speed bumps at dead-slow.
just set mine to 42f/40r after returning from florida, and leaving them at 50 psi to prevent flat spot. but my door says 35/33 as well
Thanks for the replies guys. It definitely says 36/33. Nothing special about the car (I wish!) Just bog standard basic no frills model - it's got a few cup holders though
Stick with the door jamb, and maybe experiment a bit too? Keep in mind: your gauge(s) might be off a pound or two. I've got 3 stick gauges, and they're each about 2 pounds apart, lol. Mechanics: what are your most common tools? | Page 5 | PriusChat
