From what I understand they're not interchangeable between generations and the system will definitely not read a pirated copy of a disc. Because the Toyota authorized discs are so expensive we just bought a Garmin with lifetime maps and traffic for $80. Better system, easier to use, free updates for life. We can also move it back and forth among cars no matter whose car it is. Another option is to try to find someone with a newer update than what you have who is buying the latest version. Maybe you can get their older disc at a bargain price from them. Not the latest and greatest but still better than the old 2008 disc.
