Upgraded stock radio/display – now I'm getting the "check hybrid system" message among other issues.

    I apologize if this isn't the right place for this.

    I went to pick up my 2012 Gen 3 Prius yesterday after having a new Sony XAV-AX8100 installed. I got to the car and experienced these things:


    • ‘check hybrid system’ message

    • headlights (high and low) don’t turn on, nor does indicator in dash

    • license plate light doesn’t turn on

    • doors won’t lock/unlock with remote

    • doors won’t lock/unlock by touching “button” on outside of driver door

    • lock/unlock button inside car will only lock, but not unlock


    They’re trying hard to figure out what’s happened and have kept my car overnight, but thought I’d see if anyone here had a guess.

    Any ideas??

    Try unplugging the radio Clear all codes see if systems return to normal. Do this check the whole time with the radio unplugged. They may have wired the radio wrong and it’s backfeeding Electrical systems.

    I remember these kinds of problems back in my younger days when I installed car stereos... The more we screwed up someone's car the more upgrades we gave them to make up for it. Go have a walk around the store and start picking out free stuff they're going to give you because they know you're the kind of person that will create huge problems if they don't keep you happy! Squeaky wheel gets the grease!
