recruiters are having a hell of a time, a good friend of mine says he'd rather go back to iraq than spend another 2 years recruiting. the govt is pretty desperate for soldiers.
I remember when I was in the Army, thinking the guys who were 28 and in Basic Training were soooo old. Well, my wife knows where I keep my discharge papers in case they come a callin'
Similar memory, Mike. I went through a nasty six month basic training, and I remember well a 24 y/o that we felt oh so sorry for. The senior field officer was 25.
 It didn't take long for someone to bring that one up, I love it. AP: "The accident was not reported publicly by the vice president's office for nearly 24 hours, and then only after it was reported by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times on its Web site Sunday." I just wonder when they will reinstate the draft. They probably won't tell us until 24 hours after they start hauling kids away to Iraq.
And yet those over the age of 40 have always been able to reenlist. So what difference does it make what age someone enlists for the first time - as long as they can meet basic physical and mental requirements? I think it's smarter for the military to increase the maximum enlistment age than lower intelligence standards. There are a lot of MOSs (Military Occupational Specialties) which do not require and enlistee to be young and strong (combat), and many in which civilian experience translates nicely . . . think computers. Are you sure you didn't mean Goldie Hawn as Private Benjamin? "I did join the Army, but I joined a different Army. I joined the one with the condos and the private rooms."
Man, I wouldn't mind going back, but I don't think I could shine the boots of todays soldiers! They are the best! I can just imagine me and Cheney on the firing range together, no thanks.
