So I owned a 2013 Prius Base PHEV which unfortunately was totaled in an accident in Feb. The Prius did its job and we walked away unhurt. Now I am looking for a new one. I am not interested in the Prime don't like the way it looks. I am seeing a 2014 Prius Plug in Advanced for sale with 60,000 miles on it. I am very concerned though that in the CarFax report this car has had 4 brake jobs...that is 4 rear brake jobs in the 60,000 miles the car has been driven. This seems like a problem as my 2013 Prius did not have its first brake job until almost 150,000 miles. Is there a potential problem with this car that I should avoid? 4 brake jobs seems excessive when its very normal to get to over 100K miles before needing one. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance for your input.
Carfax info isnt always correct. Sounds like a good car, how much they asking? I have my eyes on a 12 Advanced with 112K for $15K
Check the maintenance at Toyota.com/owners. If it really had four brake jobs, there is definitely an issue, but maybe the work is being done by someone who doesn’t understand the requirements of Prius rear brakes
