The wife and I decided we need another car and we want to get a used Prius. Here are some of the options we have. We want to stay close to $15k and live in MD. What's more important the year or mileage? Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2007 looks very good, near top of the line. I have that many miles on my 2009. 2008 is more a stripper, no nav. Almost the same mileage as the 2007. 2009 is more a stripper, no nav. Expect to change some fluids on the 2007 and 2008 if they can't document that they have. Brake fluid, ATF, Inverter fluid, engine coolant all last about 2 to 3 years, and might be negotiable if price isn't. (OK I will pay the asking price if you deliver it with new coolant)
The service life of engine and inverter coolant is in excess of 100k miles as is the brake and transmission fluid, however tests on transmission fluid by PC members suggest changing this early (60k) is a good preventative maintenance measure. I would go for 2009 less miles 2years longer warranty by Toyota on hybrid system.
