Using steel rims, which lugnuts for spare?

    I've switched over to winter tires on steel rims. These required me to use a different lugnut from the ones used on the OEM alloy wheels. Is the spare tire designed assuming your using the lugnuts from the alloy wheels or will either type work OK?

    Well I would say either would work OK to hold the spare on. You won't (hopefully?) be going far or fast with it anyway. But why not just put the original ones in a plastic bag or something and keep them in on top of the spare? They are obviously the intended ones for it. Then if you have to use the thing you can put the correct ones on.
