My dealer told me today it is nearly impossible to find a V here in New England without AT. I had put an order in for a Blizzard Pearl IV with NAV, no sunroof but was considering a V with NAV, no AT. Anyone else heard of this? Thanks, JTMav
We have the same situation in So Calif, but you need to find a dealer who's willing to preference one for you so it's certainly not impossible.
My desire was to get a red/bisque V without Nav - and started the process in late May. A dealer in FL located one on a ship and traded with another dealer. My dealer was surprised they gave it up, but guess it was not linked to a buyer. I got it June 13th. FYI, just did a quick search thru the Southeast Region's inventory - cars with VINs on their way from Japan. Have no idea if any are not sold or allocated, but probably so. There are 57 Vs, and only 1 is ATP. But each Region operates and orders different types of models, so can't compare to NE.
Small correction? Preferencing is for normal build cars. A V w/o AT isn't what's usually allocated to SoCal so we have to use alternate options to obtain one at PORT. <insert Groucho Marx wiggling eyebrows and cigar> Beantown is pretty far away or I'd suggest ya reach me for one of the two non AT V's I have inbound... they are scarce on my coast but perhaps not so rare where you are!
So is it BS that a V without AT is rare? I can see why a V w/Nav would be attractive and maybe a IV without the sunroof might be as well. This is all new to me, in the 40 years of buying both new and used cars I haven't run into this before. I apologize for my seemingly confused state. Thanks, JTMav
It's not BS at all. It's indeed true you can't get a V without AT in SoCal via the normal route. In fact, try to price a Prius V on the Toyota website using a Los Angeles zip code and you'll find that the AT package is automatically tackled on. In other areas, it's the exact opposite and Vs with AT are rare.
In the midwest, it is more rare to find a V w/ AT. The only ones I have been able to get are with or without NV.
Actually, this changes periodically. If you check the site over several weeks, you will see different availability for your region. Look at this from just a few weeks ago and note the zip code: [imglink]http://i42.tinypic.com/11jvojn.jpg[/imglink]
Interesting, your screenshot indicates that the only Vs available at the time were those without AT or NAV.
