From hybridcars.com: 2012 Volt Has Gone 247,585 Miles, Farther Than Moon is From Earth - HybridCars.com First of all, no disrespect to the Volt. It is a great car for a great number of commuters and probably a better choice for many than a Prius or Plug-in Prius. But is this case really impressive? Some stats noted: -35% EV -48.63 MPGe -lives in Ohio with a relatively dirty electricity source (heavy on coal there) (http://www.puco.ohio.gov/puco/assets/Image/2013%20generation.png) Have to ask in this case - it seems MPGe would be higher with a Plug-in Prius or even a regular Prius and either is probably greener.
Good job Chevy! I love that the volt doesn't loose much if any battery capacity over time and miles due to it's fabulous cooling system. Something that the ford C-max plug in is plagued by, most owners say they have lost pretty large amounts of loss over a years time. Bravo Chevy!
You are probably getting more MPGe and using less gasoline than if you were to have done the same driving in a Prius or Plug-in Prius, no?
With just over 14,250 on the car, lifetime EV is at 69%. The past 30 days, it's running 86% on EV. I used to average 13-14% with the PiP.
247k MILES - not really impressive at all - more like a norm. I am on year 7 ownership of my GenII and very much in love with it. I could not be happier!!! DBCassidy
Looks like you picked the best PHEV for your driving pattern. 247k miles would be impressive in a Volt if his stats could not be bested by some other PHEV. Can't see that he would use less gas or achieve higher MPGe compared to a Prius or Plug-in Prius. I would say he picked the wrong vehicle from an efficiency, green, and probably cost perspective. In El Dobro's example, on the other hand, the Volt is the more efficient vehicle.
Wait, is this thread supposed to mean "One small step for Man, one GIANT step for Chevy"? HAH, yeah right. BDCassidy
