Here's the old one with a little over 200,000 miles on it. You can see it has started to wear. Looks like either a casting issue, or possible foreign object damage internally. I'm not sure what causes these chips in the teeth. It was like that prior to rebuild, but at the time everyone was out of stock of an aftermarket cam phaser and I wasn't going to spend $300 or more for one from Toyota. Also is the ported area for the oil control valve supposed to look like this? I can't find a decent reference pic online.
