I just grabbed this video from my parents security cameras. This storm hit southern Ohio in the Minford / Wheelersburg area. Tornado was suspected but just turned out to be 90MPH winds and about 3-5" per hour rain. Damage around the area looked like a tornado passed through but not touched down. This was the best angle of the 4 cameras. The camera is mounted under the soffit pointed toward the west. The wind was so fast and the rain came down so hard the gutter was over flowing causing a waterfall. Luckily there was no major damage at my parents place besides a broken down spout and basement got a little wet. http://stuff.jaygroh.com/damage09/storm090711.wmv I however had my awning blown down and my soffit was damaged. My sun room has some mud in it and part of my basement got wet where I still had some boxes that needed unpacked. My tall pine tree also snapped in half. You can see some the of the pictures here. My two cameras that were on did not have a good view of the storm.

Right click and save worked. You need sound on the next camera. That video would have been 100x better with sound. As it was I was weirding out seeing skulls flash across the screen. If anyone is dropping shrooms or acid please do not watch this clip. lol
I have the option to record sound but only from one camera. I don't use it as sound is useless for home security or at least I think it is.
Looks a bit wet and windy. Didn't take long for the roof drainage to be overwhelmed, and the rain to start cascading over the gutters.
What you really have to watch out for then is the gush of water to start backing up under the shingles closest to the drip edge. It's really important to lay down at least one row of that ice and water guard membrane on a roof, much better protection in the event of a torrential rain event
True. It also doesn't hurt to clean the gutters in summer. And dig up the drain tiles every 70 years or so. Mine were plugged solid with dirt and roots, which may have actually helped suck up the water. No more basement floods for me.
Of course, the old term "tiles" carry on, even though it's a perforated, flexible plastic product. The better product has a filter fabric sleeve to keep fines out of the pipe, which prevents the dirt from eventually filling it up On older homes, say 30-40 years old, I've had to help co-workers who wonder why their basement is flooding, even with a sump pump. Take the cover off the sump pump, it's FULL of roots! Amazing how tree roots can go under a basement slab, infiltrate a sump system. So what they thought was a simple fix, a new sump pump, turned into a $45,000 adventure of jackhammering up the slab, digging out the evil tree roots, etc
Yes, the 'tiles' have been removed, and replaced with perforated pipe. The grape vine that was planted too close to the house is also gone.
