was anyone else confused about packages, car alarm, and paid twice for it? When I went to buy my prius we discussed what came with each package. We being a very nice salesperson and I. In the list for package #6 on a touring model it mentioned a anti-theft system which we both thought at the time was the passive built in anti theft system of the car not starting without a key. So I pleased asked for the VIP3200 with glass breakage sensor to be installed as extras. Well after picking up my car and having it for a short time I gave everything a review and read over documentation. One hint was that when I built my prius on the toyota website i would add the car alarm system and the price would not go up yet when adding the glass breakage sensor it did! So i went to the dealership and explained that I think I double paid for the car alarm system and they owe me a few hundred dollars. The sales manager will talk to the sales person and report back to me tomorrow afternoon. Am i way off base or am I right? A small part of me still thinks I could be wrong with 90% thinking I am owed money. Can anyone clear this up for me who knows this vehicle better then i do? thanks.
All prius have the immobilizer (can't start without key) and your package#6 does have an alarm included as well. I suspect you paid extra for the glass breakage sensors which is NOT included in any packages that I know of and you pay extra for it as a dealer installed item. Now its possible if you had a base prius without the alarm you could have had the dealer install the alarm PLUS the glass breakage, not sure what component exactly you paid for.
The Pkg 6 does not include the 'Glass Breakage Sensor' so hopefully what you are seeing on your invoice is just the charge for that.
I talked with the sales manager and it appears they are starting to see my side of the issue. They now need to talk to the service dept and ask why they did not see the error in the request and come back to sales explaining why the car alarm was already in the car. They should have stated all that you need is the window breakage sensor. So now I am 99.9% sure I am right and they owe me 350+ dollars for the car alarm. Thank you for chiming in with your thoughts on this subject and I hope what I have learned will help someone down the road. Heck, that is one month's car payment! But I think I will use the money for all weather floor mats and other things I want to add to the car
