My 2001 Prius triangle, PS and engine warning lights went on over the weekend, power steering went out then lost power. We were able to restart several times to get home, and lights have gone out, but I took it in to my local Toyota dealer and they stated I need a water pump ($350) and may need an inverter assembly ($3,300). They told me they would not be able to tell if the inverter is bad unless they replace the pump? Does this make sense, and why would the lights be off now if there is a problem?
If the car will become READY now, then the inverter should be fine. The warning lights are off now because the inverter has cooled down. If you continue to drive the car any distance, the inverter will overheat and the problem will happen again. Your car will probably be fine once the inverter coolant pump has been replaced.
