Help! My wedding ring slipped off while I was driving and fell into the gap between the steering wheel and the rest of the dash board. I heard it bounce around a few times, and it sounded like it landed just above the knee airbag cover panel. Can anyone recommend a procedure to access this? I have found a lot of dash disassembly guides, but none of them seem to get to this specific area. Vehicle is 2015 Prius V, III.
Get in the driver's footwell and contort yourself to reach up and feel around on the lower, inside surface of the cover under the steering wheel area. The cover slopes downward toward the pedals, so hopefully you will find the ring just inside that lower lip of the cover and avoid having to start taking things apart. If you don't feel it right away, tap on the cover to "bounce or vibrate" the ring downward to where you might be able to feel it as described above. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
No luck with this yet, but I'm not done trying. The more time I spend down there though the more I'm afraid the ring could have bounced to any number of places.
