I am missing just about 3, what looks like plastic push clips. I've highlighted it in the picture in red, the mini shield, there is one on the left and one on the right, they look like they are held on by N01, four on each side.

Also I don't have the middle shield (the big piece pictured on the bottom labeled 51447D. Would that be a problem?

And lastly, I have caked on mud like stuff on the bottom of my car (it's all under the engine bay undercarriage but I haven't looked elsewhere). I'll take a picture and update. I am wondering how to best clean it? Prius splash plastic.JPG

With an 18 year old car I recommend you buy aftermarket replacement shields, they're cheap and many come with the hardware you need.

In the meantime, get out your screwdriver gun and some screws from your junk drawer and screw what you got back together without the fastners. Just drive screws through the two layers of plastic. Only takes a minute or two...

As for cleaning, the pros drive the cars up a rack that gets the front end up in the air so it's easy to power wash the underside, then mask everything off and spray a layer of undercoat paint. This is wise if you're in an area with salt on the roads. Or you could do something less effective, but similar with jack stands at a coin operated self serve carwash.

I can just as easily get low and power wash, but I though all those electrical stuff in the engine bay isn't going to be good for it. I doubt I can use jack stands at coin op car wash, they won't even let you have a bucket and mittens to hand soap/wash your car!

I read on here the aftermarket shields are flimsy.

Yea, it's cheapest of all possible plastic production... But you're never gonna see it because its underneath your car and how much more lifespan of the car do you expect? But if you want to do something amazing that improves MPG get some sheets of corrugated plastic (election sign material) and custom build a belly pan and rivet it to bottom of car.

My Prius looks amazing inside and out for its age. It really looks like it's maybe a year or two old I kid you not. I was just looking at the front of the radiator and it looks really good there as well. 33k miles JDM import from Japan. So it's only a matter of the plastics and rubber and hoses holding up.

My thinking regarding the shield isn't about MPG, it's more about things as well as water splashing into the engine bay. I like the corrugated plastic idea.

You're mixing up flimsy with more pliable If you notice the shields that came with your car are hard if you will they're like Styrofoam or styrene type plastic If you bend them they will crease and hold the bend the aftermarket shields and plastics that you can buy that go under the car are more of a PVC plastic like plastic pipe is made out of except it's not white so it can flex and bend very comfortably you can shoot BBs at it and nothing will happen to it Do that with the styrene plastic fender liners that you have now and the BB will go right through them like it's nothing not that we're trying to stop bullets with our plastics I'm just saying the plastics that came on the car are harder The plastics you're going to buy from the aftermarket or if you will softer a tad thicker and way more pliable. The aftermarket plastics are actually much better That's what you want especially in your fender liners when you rip something up off the road like a rock into these newer fender liners it doesn't bother them a bit You hurl a big rock against the original fender liners and they can break and split especially with some age on them the plastic gets even harder if you will use the aftermarket If you walk into a advance Auto or a Menard store and go to the wall where the nuts and bolts are you will see the fasteners that you need especially if you're carrying one in your hand that you took off the car even if you broke it you'll see the piece It comes three to a box usually so you're going to get a few of them or you're going to buy a box with a tool on Amazon for like $13 and have plenty of them however you do this.

Thinking about the statement I made earlier, it's almost like saying I'm 60 and I look like I'm 18. So I thought to take some pictures of the most wear area of the car.

Tombukt2, I'll look into the aftermarket shield then. Probably better than nothing.

Yep the car is clean as a pen If it looks that good under the hood I would hope the outside matches sometimes not. All the clips you want I'm not sure in Canada because I haven't been there long enough to visit auto parts stores but generally over in the section with the bolts they'll be this dorman brand or I can't even think of the other names of the fastener manufacturers but if you have one of your broken ones in your pocket you'll find the match dorman they come like 3:00 to a package kind of a rip off online you can buy a box for $21 and a red tool and it'll have about 15 or 20 of the kind you want and then it has the door panel pieces and the sockets that go into the door panel itself and a bunch of other ones You buy the kit according to the brand of car like Toyota and then you get this box and this red tool that helps remove the door panels in the various fasteners You can also use the fuzzy washer type based on the size hole that you have that you're trying to fill 5/16 etc those work very well too you just push them in and forget about them there's nothing when you're ready to pull the panel off you can just take the red tool put it under the head get it started and pull it out with your hand No need to worry about any fastener getting to a certain position so it can pull through and all that.

@Aloe check out Amayama, for undershields, and fasteners for same. Unlike those guys to the south of us, they'll deliver to Canada. Better prices most of the time too. When I found a few of the engine underpanel fasteners (on our '10) staring to fail, I ordered a complete set through them. Try to get all items from one of the countries they ship from (UAE or Japan, so far as I've noticed), to avoid double shipping charges. And consider lumping in a few extras, see what it does to shipping.

Thanks for the links Mendel. I'm also missing the radiator support cover (that big black piece in the engine compartment) is of any importance? I would think not.

That’s more cosmetic. Still your engine bay looks really clean/neat…
