You need another option, for options. (pun not originally intended) I dabble a fair amount in stock options but I'm still an options amateur. I mostly sell way OTM naked puts to collect premium. I also do a bit of covered calls on some stocks and ETFs I own but I think I want to scale back on that/be more careful on that. It's been rather annoying to do so on some stocks only to have them unexpectedly jump, shoot way past their previous resistance levels and keep climbing. I also did check many of the choices you gave. BTW, one of my friends in his non-retirement account only does options. He's WAY more knowledgeable and WAY better than I am. In his 401k, I don't think he can, so he's left w/whatever choices he's got there.
Not enough choices for Jr... Money Market and CD's, sure... Real Estate last few years after the frau and I took a bath in the tech crash... we got out of stocks entirely. Also we now rely on investing in some collectibles = stamps, coins, art, antiques... and barter material = gems, metals, guns.
It is extremely hard time to invest right now. Many say market headed for correction, and Bonds always look bad this time of year. Although last 3 years, bond funds have been low in 1st quarter, and then rebound nicely by summer. So this is good time to nibble into bond funds which are lower now, but of course who knows?
