Gen 3 Prius, across the top of the front bumper cover where the hood drops down... there's a long cushioning strip. In replacing my bumper cover, I discovered that strip is glued down (and "tacked" in place with three tiny plastic grommets.)

Wondering what glue to use? We're talking flex "rubber" to clear coated plastic. Needs to stay in place for years, but not be destroyed by pulling it apart.

    Any wisdom or ideas?

There is stuff called "weatherstrip adhesive". Wonder if it could be that.

Georgina, you think that stuff may work with the rubber?
    Weatherstrip adhesive does sound interesting...

    Thanks, folks!

Yeah, it's used to mount door bump strips on the side of cars for many years since the 1970's when the double stick tape gives way.

I use goop if it might need to be broken down for another job . On a reassembly where I've taken care of everything that requires the front bumper cover to come off like headlights things like that if I need to change them get all that stuff done then when I put the front bumper cover back on and I'm making it so I'm not taking it off again I use the urethane in the caulking gun just like they use on the windshield I put little dabs of it into the grip strip and strategic places on the front bumper on the back side and then put it into all the click strips and where it needs to be put a piece of tape on it in a few places and let that urethane set and that sucker stays flat clicked in place it will not budge and I hope you don't have to take it apart because you're going to get new strips on the front edge of the front fender to hold the next bumper cover because you're going to tear it up when you take it apart but it will stay together forever this is how I get it all flat and get it to stay that way The stuff doesn't start popping out of the clips or any of that nonsense wants a little bit of that urethane is in there and it dries It's not budging You may rip the tabs off the bumper cover trying to take it off but that's how I want it after everything is done.
