Me: 1980 Volkswagen Rabbit C, bright yellow, no options (stock radio was AM only!) Why: It was the car I owned through my last two years of high school, waaaaay too many good memories with it, and it never let me down.
I would have to say it was my 1990 Ford Probe LX (at least when it was new). It was the first new car I ever owned (my previous two were used 1967 Mercedes). It had a lot of gadgets (power seats, digital instrumentation, miles-to-empty display) and it was fun to drive.
I loved my Little Toyota P/U. Base model, manual transmission. My daughter learned to drive a stick on the truck and drove it till someone stole it!
well, being that the prius is my second car... and that the first one was a POS... i'm going with the prius
My 1965 VW Bug. I owned it in the early 90's, and it was the classic style (pre-68), but somewhat beat up so I didn't really care what happened to it. I would drive it down muddy dirt roads and over bumps at speeds I didn't dare drive an expensive car at, and it never let me down. Plus it was low-tech enough that I could work on it myself. I would lock the door but not the front quarter-window, so I could push that open, reach in and unlock it without the key (not that it was a real magnet for theives anyway). The gas tank was under the front hood, so at a full-service station I just let the guy walk all the way around the car looking for the gas tank lid before I popped open the front trunk. And it seems everybody had a story to share about a VW bug in their past. If I had it now, I'd probably try converting it to electric, except the coefficient of drag isn't real good, and it was real scary to drive over 75mph. Maybe someday the Prius will be as ubiquitous as the VW Bug was, at least as iconoclastic. It looks like there will be several after-market kits for it like there was/is for the bug. nerfer
I had a 1963 Mercedes 190SL that was great fun at the time. There are times now when I wish I still had it...also had a MGTD 52 .
My 1st favorite: Was a 1965 Cadillac Supereor Volunteer Ambulance 21.5' long with twin beacon rays and the air raid siren (fed Q) emerald green w/white stripes. ( father helped restore it) Was great at the drive in movies, parties & old car shows.. My friends nicknamed it the Shagin Wagon. It even had the stretcher in the back.. I paid $700 for it after the reso we sold it for $6500, It had a 501ci engine and would pass everything but the gas station. The one pictured below is identical as to what I owned but in white. [attachmentid=2495] Since everyones citing two vehicles My 2nd favorite: Was a 1973 VW super beetle "Black & Yellow racer edition". it was fun & HOT in the summer time, but a real chick magnet at the gas stations with the American Grafitti music rocking out the windows! paid $2500 for it, drove it for 2yrs as a 2nd car. The yellow was like yellow chrome & the black was a matte black. Sold it to my nephew for $2500 restored.. [attachmentid=2497] [attachmentid=2498]
Well, I am not sure that it is my FAV car, but it was my first car, I only had it a short time, but so many fun memories, plus it got awesome mileage! It was a 1984 Mercury Lynx (Ford Escort) DIESEL! That thing took a lickin and kept on goin! My step dad owned it before me, and beat the crap out of it, then I did the same, and then my friend bought it. She took it to places it should never have been! Then the auto shop teacher at our school was doing a demonstration with it, and he left the radiator cap off, and she went on a long drive and over heated the poor thing- that was it- end of the road for the poor bugger! It had 150,000 miles on it. Next Fav would have been my 2000 Ford Focus- lots of fun memories- and then my 2001 Escape, and now my Prius. I have had about 15 cars, so it's hard to pick just 1!
That's got to be a tossup between my current car (Salsa Red Prius) and my first car - a 1955 Chevy BelAir with a 350 cu in engine. What a car to have going through high school oh those many years ago.
It's close, but it was a 1970 Boss 351 Ford Mach 1 Mustang. No power options except for brakes. No A/C. Somewhat modified with headers, dual point distributor, full race Crane cam, solid lifters, Holly 850 double pump carb, 4.88 gear ratio posi. rear end, Hurst shifter, and major suspension work. It was the fastest car I ever owned from 0-120 MPH. In the 1/4 mile I had an elapsed time of 10.90 @ 120 MPH. The fastest car I owned from 100-170 MPH was a 1987 Buick Grand National Turbo V-6 Regal. I wish I had the Mach 1 now as only 1806 were made with the Boss 351 engine.
That thing is AWESOME! I never actually went to your site to check it out, WOW! I actually feel ripped-off reading about it.... Wth? Why did GM deep-6 the idea?
