For those with gauges. What Temp does your ICE show before starting out in the morning. Today, ambient was just under 50f and my car was parked in an unheated garage for 14 hours before leaving. The ICE temp on the SCII showed 98f. This sounds high. As a side note it was 148f at my destination 10 Mi. later. I am also running the Hymotion kit. Thank You Chris
Mine is usually right at the ambient temp. You sure you weren't seeing the temp after the warm coolant went in?
ScanGauge reports coolant temperature, not block temperature, so your readings are reasonable -- evidence of the value of the "thermos" that helps keep coolant warm. Like Evan's, my block temperature (which we monitor via CAN-View) is around ambient temp after an overnight cold-soak. Coolant temps (also available in CV) are considerably higher.
thanks you guys are right on the money. I wasn't fast enough reading the gauge this morning. When leaving work It very quickly went from 69 to 100 then leveled off around 87. I could hear the pump as soon as I hit the power button. Now to install the EBH that showed up in the mail today. I can see how the temp makes a big difference, especially in SHM for me. Thanks again Chris
In my research, there is no such engine block temperature sensor, and Attila did some mistakes on his spreadsheet. I observe a proportional relationships between the coolant temperature and so called block temperature during thermistor hack tests. http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-modifications/36342-another-thermistor-hack.html Ken@Japan
