Here is some info on the vehicle: 1. The car sat for three months while the owner saved money for the cat that was just stolen. After the dealer installed a new converter she was told at the traction battery was bad. 2. 173000 miles on car 3. Interior is pretty dirty and paint is peeling 4. Car drives once you clear the code but the traction battery codes return. 5. Cracked windshield I would like to use the car for an automotive class that I am teaching. The lady does not have money to purchase another car. I don’t want to underbid her but I also do not want to pay too much for the vehicle. The only upside I could think of is it’s got a brand new dealer converter in it. I will try to upload the codes.
Just my $.02, but I'd say around $2-3K. You can get a refurb battery or have the bad cells replaced for under $500 here in OC. If you have access to a code reader that can break down the battery health by cells then you can get a better idea on what's needed.

I offered her 800 she then asked me what kind of car she could get for 800. I feel really bad for the lady I told her to list the vehicle on websites such as craigslist. She should be able to get more. I also told her to be careful because there is a lot of scammers out there. With OC recommending 2 to 3000 I am going to try to go up on my price a little bit as soon as my budget will allow. Again this is going to be a car for the auto class To do diagnostics on. I plan on registering it none opt. Of course I have a 2010 Prius that I just purchased that I am driving so maybe I will keep the generation two on the road and non-opt the generation three Prius.
$3500 would be its value with a good HV battery. Deduct $300 for windshield and $600 to repair blocks 4 and 10 with 2-4 used modules plus $1000 for your risk of buying a non working car, you should pay around $1600.
