What's better for the environment, recycling a magazine, or

    giving the magazine to someone else who will read it, but will not recycle it? On the one hand if you recycle it then it'll take energy to remake another paper item which may then again be recycled, and repeat. The person who reads it again, is reusing the item, which means less loss of resources to make the magazine in the first place, but he removes the paper from the recycling chain which means more natural resources will be used in lieu of that potentially recycled material.
