I have an electric bike on order and am interested in learning which hitch and available bike rack will work best for this bike with my G3 Prius. I don't want a roof-top type and don't want to have to always take it off in order to open the rear hatch, so I think I'll be limited to putting one of those square receivers on and getting a carrier that fits into it. I don't want anything that is larger than necessary- my bike will not be especially heavy and a rack that will hold two bikes will be fine. The bike is a "men's style" with a near horizontal bar that extends from the front upright post to the seat post so it should not be difficult to mount it on a normal rack. If a view of it is needed, go to the REI web site & look up the eMoto Velocity 2.0 bike.
Here's a couple of other threads to look at: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-curt-hitch-released-ordering-2010-prius.html http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...fications/72862-hitch-receiver-bike-rack.html There's at least a couple of different hitches available and a multitude of hitch mounted racks ranging from $100 to $400. First decision is whether you want to dangle the bike from its frame, or prefer the platform style. There are versions of both styles that will lean away from the rear hatch, if that is a concern. Platform style is going to tend to be heavier, but there are some light aluminum models (some question how strong those are and how well they'll hold up over time). There's also the Thelma, made by Saris, that's only 26 lbs. Saris, Yakima and Thule seem to be the leading bike rack makers, but there are also several lesser known makers.
