My clock seems to slow down by about a min every week or two... Anyone else seeing this? I wish the whole system would "sync" when connected to entune.
Yep. Had a thread somewhere in here where people were hypothesizing why…but still, it's just a really cheap clock :-(
Yes, I see the same drift. Why they don't sync the dashboard clock with the GPS-synchronized clock in the Nav unit is beyond me. Maybe it is because not all Prius models have Nav units (even though all PiPs do), so they went on the cheap and used the same clock hardware across all models.
Really annoying! Most of the times we rely more on the clock in the car than anything else. So, it is disappointing to know that the clock isn't reliable.
The clock in my PIP also loses time. Very annoying. On my 2005 Prius, which I traded in for the 2012 PIP, the clock was much more accurate.
It is reliable...it is just slow. It's not like it stops or goes blank when the car is on. But, yes, I've noticed that every month or so I need to bump it up a minute or two. I don't ever recall needing to do this in my 2001, 2004 or 2010 (maybe every year or two in those?) Mike
Mine loses minutes but I heard its because of the scangauge 2. I just add a minute or 2 every once in a while and it stays a few minutes ahead, keeping me on time.
by driving pip you gain extra few seconds per day. it's part of perk for driving pip. Enjoy the few seconds
Yep, wrong choice of word from me. It is reliable alright. While dropping kids to school every minute matters and found 3-4 times (in 3+ months of ownership) that they were late when I thought we were on time. 2 or three minutes is not a big deal, but it kinds of gets noted in school . First few times I thought it was a mistake from my side on setting it up wrongly, lately I realized it is indeed going slow and then I saw this thread Now that I know it runs slower, I guess I can keep some buffer time (or know upfront that I am late).
I noticed that too. When I filled out the new car survey, I included that feedback. Hope that helped for later adopters.
Mine also runs slow. Every once in a while I have to tap the "M" button on the clock to bump it a minute or two. I don't have a Scanguage or any other OBD-2 attachment, so that is not it. At least they designed it to be slow, so you can fix it easily with the M button. If it were fast, you would have to advance it 58 minutes.
