Our catalytic converter got stolen and the police said this crime is off the charts in our area right now. So, now that it's replaced, I really want to get a catalytic converter shield installed, but both places I've tried so far say the don't know anything about them and can't install them. catshield lists some installers, but the one I tried was a Carmax Toyota dealer, but now they are Sheehy Toyota and this ended up just a mess. I scheduled an appointment for it - they told me they could do this - but then when I got there they didn't have a clue what I was talking about and in general they seemed to be in chaos with the switchover. The next closest one catshield lists is about 25 miles away in Rockville, MD. Is that my only option, or does anyone know any shops that will install them in this area? I'm actually just west of Baltimore. I don't have the means to install one of these myself.
Hope you were able to get that shield installed. Most muffler shops should be able to do the install for you for a much cheaper price than Toyota dealerships - you just have to ask around. I got the Millercat cat shield too and it's worked pretty awesome for me.
Sorry this happened to you. I'm in the DMV too. I just bought a millercat catshield (it comes w clear install instructions) and brought it to a local Toyota dealership (I was due for routine maintenance anyway) and just asked them to also install it. $260 (2 hrs labor and they gave a $50 discount). The one I went to is Koons in Alexandria VA.
