Where to get techstream ? Has anybody got a usable setup from ebay and could point me to a good vendor or at least ones to avoid? Toyota price is not doable for me but I would like to be able to fix anything on the car or at least know exactly how it works. I want to get some sort of diagnostic tool that gives me more info than my Harbor Fraught scan tool that can't deal with some of the Prius systems. Is the Torque app an adequate substitute for techstream?
Do you need the complete set with techstream and the adapter or will a good quality OBD-II adapter work as well? I own a ELS27 adapter which supports more advanced features like the MS-CAN bus which normal ELM327 adapters do not.
I bought mini vci from Dragon-diagnostics on Ebay. It comes with a disk containing drivers and version 10 of Techstream. I installed it on a windows XP 32 bit laptop and it works great. I programmed two keys with it (non smart keys) It's difficult to install on 64 bit windows 7 machine but very easy on 32 bit XP. Here's the link: dragon-diagnostics-uk on eBay Cheers
Yes. Its very common. The VCI is cheap. Buy sometimes cranky to set up. The Vxdiag is much easier to set up on a laptop. I have both. Both work great. I use a burner Dell 630 XP machine I have had for 100 years as I do not expose this software to my good pc's or laptops. But has full techstream.
